The cool thing about Google Trends is that it allows you to see not only what is popular and trending overall…  but Google drills it down and tells you what cities/states are searching for your keywords most often. JUST LISTEN TO GOOGLE.I chose my settings on the next screen. I selected all data from the last year. And for the United States Only.

The cool thing about Google Trends is that it allows you to see not only what is popular and trending overall…  but Google drills it down and tells you what cities/states are searching for your keywords most often. JUST LISTEN TO GOOGLE.

From the most popular regions, I selected the #4 state/region of Wisconsin.

As I drilled down to the city I chose the cities Green-Bay, Madison and Milwaukee (Most popular cities shown by Google).Next, I wanted to see what actual keywords around “Spanish Mastiff” are trending.  By scrolling down you’ll see related queries. These will be my seed keywords.Preliminary Research/Data

Based on the data obtained from Google Trends… here are the basic Keywords I’m chose to target:

  • spanish mastiff
  • spanish mastiff puppy
  • spanish mastiff puppies
  • spanish mastiffs

The Geographic Areas I chose are below. The Wisconsin cities are from Google Trends, the Georgia keywords are from my local area.  I added these to my Keyword Spreadsheet/Document.
Geographic Areas I targeted

  • Wisconsin
    • Green bay-appleton WI
    • Madison WI
    • Milwaukee WI
  • Georgia
    • Atlanta Ga
    • Gwinnet County Ga
    • Fulton County Ga

This strategy is so simple to use. You can append any local cities/locales that you want to target and determine how easily you can get videos ranked.

Time to add Intent and Buyer Keyword Modifiers (additional keywords)

Lastly, we need to mix our geographic and trending keywords with some intent terms. Intent keywords are important in attracting the right traffic.

There are 3 types of search intent:

  • Informational – searches performed to answer questions or learn something
  • Navigational – searches performed to locate a specific website
  • Transactional – searches performed to buy something (These are usually what you want to focus on)

I’m an advocate of results based marketing so with the keywords I am chose we’re keywords with commercial buyers (transactional) intent.

Here are a few examples of buyer intent keywords:

  • Buy
  • For Sale
  • Discount(s)
  • Deal(s)
  • Coupon(s)
  • Free shipping

Here are the keywords I chose for this example:

  • For Sale
  • Buy

Additional Targeted Keywords to Add (Suggestions)

Keeping with the theme of JUST ASK GOOGLE, I went over to Google Suggest and picked up a few more keywords and listed them out.

When you can go to Google and start typing they automatically provide you with suggestions based on the keyword(s) entered… (see below)urefireurefireBONUS:

Some keywords will display questions people ask. These questions are GOLDEN and should also be considered. The search below displayed when I searched for (Dog Breed Facts).  The “People also ask” box does NOT display with every search so you may not see it
